Family Clinician
Dr. David Carr
Dr. Carr completed his undergraduate degree at Queen’s University in Kingston, ON. He studied medicine as well at Queen’s, but completed his residency in Family Medicine at the University of Alberta in Edmonton, AB in 2005. He then completed a Special Competence in Emergency Medicine Program at the University of Alberta in 2006.
Dr. Carr splits his time between Family Practice and working in the Emergency Department at the Peterborough Regional Health Centre. He is also a faculty preceptor with the Kawartha Family Medicine Residency Program. As a result, the practice is one of several teaching sites for Family Medicine Residents in our community.

Extended Hours
Extended hours clinics are available to all patients of Medical Centre Family Physicians and Nurse Practitioners and are open from 5pm until 8pm Mon-Thursday, Saturdays from 8am-2pm and Sundays from 9am-12 pm. Appointments are necessary. On occasion, particularly over holidays, the times for these clinics may change. This information will be posted on the Medical Centre Website.
Missed Appointment Policy
Please provide us with 24 hr. cancellation notice if you are unable to keep your scheduled appointment. This ensures that patients who require same-day appointments can be accommodated more easily.
Uninsured Services
Some medical services are not covered by the Ontario Health Insurance Plan (OHIP). This includes completion of certain insurance forms and Driver’s Medical examinations as examples. If a requested service is not covered by OHIP, you will be asked to pay for this service directly. Fees for these services are set by the Ontario Medical Association, which releases a new schedule annually. A list of common uninsured services and their costs are available at the reception desk.
Office Hours
Office hours are Tuesdays and Wednesdays each week with some Fridays available as well. Cathy Lang is available to answer the phones for Dr. Carr 5 days per week and can help to direct you on days when Dr. Carr is not in the office. Cathy will also prioritize requests for appointments. Please provide her with enough information about the reason for your visit to ensure that sufficient time is booked. Specific appointments with our nurse practitioner, Melissa Forgrave, are made through the receptionist.
