Doctor C. Corbeil

Family Physician

Dr. Chloé Corbeil B. SC., M.D., C.C.F.P

Dr. Corbeil was born and raised in Timmins, ON, and completed her undergraduate degree in Biomedical Sciences at the University of Ottawa. She continued her studies in Ottawa and completed medical school in 2015. Wanting to practice community-based family practice she completed her residency in Peterborough, ON, through Queen’s University. She also completed an additional enhanced skills residency with an interest in Women’s Health and Rural Medicine.

Before starting at the Medical Center, Dr. Corbeil has worked in Peterborough as well as in Sioux Lookout, ON, and provided care to several fly-in northern communities. She now works part-time at The Medical Centre and part-time at the Partners in Pregnancy Clinic where she provides both maternal and newborn care.

Dr. Corbeil is also an Associate Professor for Queen’s University. She is involved in teaching residents of the Queen’s Family Medicine Program. The residents are qualified physicians who have completed Medical School and passed their examinations. We hope our patients take this opportunity to help these new doctors as they specialize in family medicine.

Dr. Corbeil is fluent in both French and English and happy to provide care in either language.

Availability & Accessibility

Urgent visits requested by telephone will be evaluated and given an appointment the same day, if possible. If no appointments are available that day, you are welcome to register for the Extended Hours Clinic, otherwise if your concern is of a more urgent nature, you should proceed to the local Emergency Dept at PRHC. Patients are also encouraged to contact TeleHealth Ontario, 1-866-553-7205 if concern is not of an emergent nature.

Appointment Scheduling

All requests for an appointment with Dr. Corbeil will be triaged (prioritized) by the receptionist and documented for chief complaint. Patients will be asked to provide specific information about their concern(s) and reason for their visit. This is necessary to appoint the appropriate scheduling and allotted time. Please arrive on time. We will do everything we can to ensure that the office runs efficiently and on time. We reserve the right to rebook patients who are late for appointments.

Dr Corbeil will rarely be on-call for deliveries at the hospital while working in the office. On the rare occasion that she is covering both the office and the labour and delivery ward she may have to reschedule patients if she is called away. We will inform patients prior to booking should this situation occur.

Missed Appointment Policy

24 hours cancellation notice is required or patient will be charged for missed visit.

Charts

Our practice is electronic and we will not be accepting old notes or medical charts as a whole. We will however, be accepting certain parts of your old charts (these include: recent consultation letters from specialist, relevant radiology reports and current laboratory investigations).

Prescribing Policies

Most prescriptions should be renewed in person at a scheduled office visit. It is the patient’s responsibility, as an active partner in their health care, to monitor their prescriptions and request an appointment at least 2 weeks prior to prescriptions expiring. Please call us before you run out of pills so that we can help you make arrangements.

Dr Corbeil is willing to fill prescriptions by phone or fax request at a cost of $10, unless previously agreed. As we transition patients from the care of Dr Kelly to Dr Corbeil we will make sure to inform patients of this and wave the fee on the initial renewal. We would prefer you contact your pharmacy directly and have them contact our office with the renewal request. This frees up our phone lines for patients

Some medications require ongoing monitoring. If you have not undertaken the prerequisite screening blood work for this medication within a recent time frame, you may be asked to repeat blood work prior to refilling the medication. Furthermore, Dr. Corbeil will require patients to sign a contract for all prescription of controlled substances (ie narcotics, benzodiazepines)

Referrals to Specialists

Dr. Corbeil recognizes the scope of family practice and the need for occasional referral to specialty services. This will be at Dr. Corbeil’s discretion. Dr. Corbeil will use evidence-based guidelines to direct these decisions. Before any referral is arranged, patients must see the family doctor for pre-consultation information gathering and investigations to facilitate a faster and more effective consultation.

What to Bring to Each Visit

  1. All current medications in their bottles (if not practical, a list with name, dose & frequency)
  2. Health Card (without Health card, you will not be seen)

Uninsured Services

Not all services provided are covered by OHIP. As such, you will be asked to pay for certain services. A list of these services will be posted in our office. Non-payment, within a reasonable time frame, will result in a letter of warning. Non-payment twice will result in a discontinuation of uninsured services for that particular patient and may result in this patient no longer being a member of Dr. Corbeil’s family practice. That said, we realize and will always take into consideration that some patients may not be able to pay for these services. Please do not hesitate to inform us if these charges pose a financial hardship to you.

Dr Corbeil would like to acknowledge that the land on which we live, work and play, is that of the traditional territory of the Mississauga Anishinaabeg.
