Dr. Sachin Waghmare, MD, CCFP

Dr. Waghmare was born and raised in Corner Brook, NL. Completing his undergraduate degree in Biochemistry at Memorial University of Newfoundland, he continued into medical school at the same university in St. John’s, graduating in 2017. Dr. Waghmare then pursued Family Medicine training right here in Peterborough through Queen’s University. He and his wife loved the community and agreed to inherit the practice of Dr. Kevin Gibson during his retirement. Dr. Waghmare shares clinic staff and office space with his wife, Dr. Becca Webster.

Staff Information

Kathy McCracken is our office receptionist. Kathy should be trusted with all your concerns. She schedules patients for appointments and requires some information about your appointment in order to allot you an appropriate amount of time. She is available to answer the phones for Dr. Waghmare and Dr. Webster five days per week. She has a lot of experience in a medical office setting and keeps everything running smoothly.

Courtney Muenzel is our nurse. Courtney is responsible for all immunizations and routine injections. She is actively involved with our patient encounters and often meets with the patients prior to Dr. Waghmare or Dr. Webster. She will obtain vitals (blood pressure, heart rate, weight, etc.) at most patient visits. Courtney’s role also includes health education. She is often available to answer your health-related concerns via telephone during office hours.

Connie Brown and Ginny Veselskiy are nurse practitioners working with us. They both have extensive experience in primary care practice. We are very fortunate to have them involved in our practice. Both work independently, in conjunction with and alongside Dr. Waghmare and Dr. Webster, to help manage all of our patients' medical needs. Appointment Scheduling

For an appointment, please call Kathy at (705) 876-4504. Most appointments are 20 minutes in duration. Most concerns require this amount of time for thorough assessment. Certain appointments, such as procedures and Periodic Health Visits, are allotted more time. If you feel you require a longer appointment (e.g., depression, multiple questions or concerns) please let us know when booking. If your priorities cannot be addressed in the time available, you will be asked to rebook. We will try our best to stay on time, however certain situations are unpredictable, and we appreciate your patience if delays occur.

Missed Appointment Policy

If you are unable to keep an appointment, please call at least 24 hours in advance of your scheduled appointment to cancel. Any notice you can provide is appreciated and we recognize that unexpected circumstances can arise. There is a charge for missed appointments when notice is not provided to us. Our office will not be calling to remind you of your appointment; it is therefore your responsibility to remember.

After-Hours Clinic / Holidays

If you require urgent care outside of office hours, the After-Hours Clinic at The Medical Centre is available:

  • Monday to Thursday: 5:00pm ‐ 8:00pm
  • Saturday: 8:00am ‐ 2:00pm
  • Sunday: 9:00am ‐ 12:00pm (8:00am to 2:00pm as of October 1, 2019)

If you require an appointment from one of these services, please call The Medical Centre switchboard at 705-743-6222. The After-Hours Clinic hours may change during the holidays. After-hours care is NOT to be used for routine visits such as diabetes checkups, prescription renewals, etc. You can also access the TeleHealth Advisory Services, available 24/7, at 1-866-553-7205. Of course, the Emergency Room at PRHC is available 24/7 for more urgent concerns.

By “rostering” with our team, you have access to the After-Hours Clinic and the doctor on call, as mentioned above. You also gain access to allied health services, including mental health counseling, a dietitian, and pharmacy consultations.

Prescribing Policies

You may ask for a prescription renewal at any visit. This is the preferred method to obtain medication refills. If you are running low on a routine medication, please ask your pharmacy to fax a request for refill. Please make this request at least 1 week prior to running out of the medication to allow us time to send in a renewal. Some medications will require you to return to clinic for an appointment for ongoing monitoring, such as bloodwork and a physical examination. At that time, we will provide a prescription renewal. Furthermore, Dr. Waghmare will require patients to sign a contract for all prescriptions of opioids.

Uninsured Services

Certain services are not paid for by OHIP and will be charged to you directly. Such services include completing forms, sick notes, transferring medical records, and procedures not deemed ‘medically necessary,’ such as cosmetic procedures. Should you request one of these services, you will be advised of the charge and must agree to it prior to the service being completed. Payment is required at the time the service is completed. Cash and cheques are accepted. The fees assigned are as per the recommendations of the Ontario Medical Association. We do realize and will always take into consideration that some patients may not be able to pay for these services.
